Drill Baby, Spill

Just drill more oil! That's the call from the short sighted majority that sees the easy way as the obvious way. Now the predictable result of all the oil platforms off the Texas Louisiana coast, and the likely outcome of the black gold rush that will occur from the Obama administration's cowtowing to right wing pressure to ensure cheap oil at all costs: an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico that may dwarf that of the Exxon Valdez, when all is said and done. The difference is that this spill will occur in a warmer clime, one that is noticeable to more people, and one that may affect popular Florida beaches and large areas of wetland, considered among the most productive, and therefore important habitats on the planet. But easy is best. Now let's start building more nuclear power plants. After all, what could possibly happen, anyways?
